Relay Carnival Meet Info
Hello Dolphin Relay Carnival Families,
As mentioned earlier, tomorrow evening is the Division 11 Relay Carnival. Our dress-up spirit theme will be "WHITE OUT", and it sounds like there may be some marking up of vehicles at our pool tomorrow to show your spirit as you motor down Rt. 50 or I-66.
Location: Mosby Woods Pool is located at 3136 Fair Woods Pkwy, Fairfax, VA 22030. Plan your route to the pool accordingly for the time of day, and remember there will be other teams worth of swimmers being dropped off at the same time.
Swimmer Drop Off: Swimmer Drop-Off is in the loop in front of the Mosby Woods Pool House.
Parking: The Mosby Woods parking lot is very small and has been reserved for parking pass holders. Once you have dropped your swimmer off you will need to find parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Use common sense when parking on streets. Fairfax code is no closer than 10ft from the driveway bib. According to the Mosby Woods reps their neighbors are very supportive of the swim team as a whole, but remember to be courteous or risk getting a ticket or being towed.
Swimmer Arrival and Team Area: Swimmers should be in the team area at 5:00. The Greenbriar Team area is across the pool from where the swimmers enter the pool on the far right side. On the map you will see our area as Team Area 6. Swimmers should have a chair, water, and bug spray.
Swimmer Apparel: Swimming in a suit other than the Greenbriar Team Suit is allowed at this meet. However, only FINA-approved tech suits may be worn in competitions. No Technical suit may be worn by any 12& under athlete.
(102.8.1.F) a tech suit is a jammer or kneeskin with bonded seams, suits that do not extend beyond the hip or have stitched seams are allowed.
Swimmers must not wear a swim cap with the logo of another team (club, high school, or other NVSL team) during the meet. NVSL all-star caps are allowed.
Warmups: Greenbriar will warm up in lanes 4, 5 & 6 from 5:25pm to 5:45pm. Our team will also have access to an unused outside lane next to 6
Volunteers Arrival and Briefings: As each team shares responsibility for the meet officials our team is responsible for a smaller than usual number of volunteers. For your particular assignment there is a specific arrival/check-in time and a specific briefing time posted with your job in Swimtopia. There is also a comprehensive timeline of all arrivals and briefings as well. We are still looking for a Meet Marshal to fill our obligation so please sign up here.
Spectator Seating: As you can see on the map of the pool there is ample spectator seating on either side of the pool. Please be mindful of areas which are stanchioned off and if you are asked to move by a meet official or Team Rep please comply. Please stay out of the team areas or swimmer spectator viewing area. And please encourage your swimmer to remain in the team area when they are not swimming so the coach knows were all our relay entries are.
Meet Sheet and Meet Operation: The Meet Sheet for the meet can be downloaded and printed from this page on our team website here. Greenbriar will be in lane 6 for event 1, lane 1 for event 2, lane 2 for event 3 and so-on, cycling through that order until the last event is swum. 1st through 6th place score points as follows: 14 - 10 - 8 - 6 - 4 - 2. The top 18 teams across the 17 NVSL divisions will compete at NVSL All Star Relay Carnival on Wednesday, July 10th.
Weather Delay: The forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms in the evening, but the division will make every effort to finish the meet inspire of delays. Please familiarize yourself with Weather Notes for Division Meets and, in the event of a weather delay, return to your vehicles, BUT DO NOT LEAVE THE NEIGHBORHOOD until instructed to do so. Communications will be done via the Swimtopia Mobile app notifications and emails.
Concessions: There will be food available for purchase using both cash and digital funds. There will also be a T-Shirt stand at the front of the pool house where you can either pick up your pre-ordered shirt if you did so or purchase one there. Divisional meets are a huge financial boost for an NVSL team so be sure to support the Mosby Woods team if you can.
More information is posted on the Signup Schedule for Relay Carnival. If you have any questions about the meet, don't hesitate to ask.
