Time Trials 2024 is in the books! Thanks to everyone who helped make it run as smoothly as it did. We could not accomplish such a meet in a timely manner without our parents stepping up and volunteering. You can view your swimmers’ results in the Swimtopia mobile app or, if you’re logged into the website, you can do so by clicking their name in the My Account section of the team website. If your swimmer has any questions about their swims they should talk with Coach Pat or other members of our awesome coaching staff.

On to week three of Greenbriar summer swim!

Practices This Week: Our afternoon practice schedule resumes on Monday. There will be NO PRACTICE on Wednesday (6/12) as it’s the last day of school for FCPS. On Thursday (6/13) we flip over to our morning practice schedule for the remainder of the season. You can view the practice schedule here.

Upcoming Swim Meets: We have two upcoming swim meets, both of which involve hosting friends from the other side of Stringfellow Road.

●On Saturday (6/15) we will host the Brookfield Breakers at our pool for our first NVSL dual meet of the season. For your swimmer to be considered for this meet, you must identify whether they are available before this Monday (6/10) at 6PM. To do so, go to the team website, and navigate to “Meets & Events / Signup Calendar” to find the event. Once there, click the green Meet Entry Open button and indicate whether your swimmer is available or not available for this meet (you’ll be prompted to login if you have not done so). Swimmers who remain undeclared will be considered unavailable. Swimmers and parents will typically be notified at practice on Thursday if they are swimming in the meet on Saturday morning. Selected swimmers will need to arrive at the pool at 7:50AM for an 8AM warmup in their Team Suit and Team Swim Cap. The meet will start promptly at 9AM.

●On Monday (6/19) we will host the Poplar Tree Pirates for our first WFDL developmental meet of the season. All swimmers are invited to sign up to swim two individual strokes (Free, Back, Breast, Fly) plus the 100 Meter Individual Medley (100M IM) if they are legal in all four strokes. The deadline to sign your swimmers up for their strokes is Saturday, June 15th by 6:00PM. The process to do so is similar to the instructions above except that after declaring whether your swimmer will attend or not you will be prompted to select their strokes. There is also a field in which you can leave notes for our Head Coach which they will see before finalizing the meet. Swimmers who are not signed up for strokes will be considered to be not attending the event. Your swimmer should be at the pool by 4:45pm. Our warmups will begin promptly at 5:05PM and the meet events kick off at 6:00PM. Again, all swimmers should attend in their Team Suit with their Team Cap.

All Meet and Job Signups Are Open:Signups for ALL MEETS are now open. It is critical for Coach Pat and other key volunteers to know whether your swimmer is available for a given meet or not, and what volunteer positions are filled. It’s very easy for you to communicate these commitments through SwimTopia. You are welcome to do this for all meets far in advance and change it before the deadline for that meet if necessary. The rule of thumb to remember for meets:

The deadline to declare for Saturday Meets is Monday.
The deadline to declare for Monday Meets is Saturday

Learn it. Know it. Live it. 🙂

2024 Season Photos: The team is trying something different this season and having one album for season photos instead of photo albums for each event. The goal is to have at least one photo of every swimmer for the year end banquet slideshow. Photos will be pulled from the album linked below for inclusion in the slideshow. If you have photos you'd like to share, please feel free to upload to the album linked below. If you’re interested in becoming our next meet photographer, even if it’s not for every meet, we’d love to hear from you.2024 Season Photos

All Things Apparel:How good did our team look today at Time Trials? We were so excited to see everyone in their new gear! We've got many more surprises in the works, but here are the top 4 things we want to highlight for this week:

  1. Latex caps will be in this week and handed out to swimmers at practices.
  2. Preordered Spiritwear will be arriving this week - look for an update with details on when to pick up your orders.
  3. Unworn suits can be exchanged at Suit Up if your swimmer needs a different size. Tags must be attached and suits must not have gotten wet.
  4. If you have not picked up your team suit and tee, please reach out to Shannon ([email protected]) and Annie ([email protected]) to set up a time for pickup.

Friday Night Pep Rally - Green Out: On Friday evening (6/14) at 6PM we’ll host our first Pep Rally of the season. On the SignUp Calendar page you will find all the details including who is to bring what and what jobs are needed to be filled. The theme for our pep rally, the Saturday and Monday meets is GreenOut.

Pancake Breakfast: Next Monday (6/17) is our annual Pancake Breakfast to celebrate the end of school and the return of morning practices. So we have an idea of how many swimmers are being fed please RSVP. This is a favorite event for swimmers of all ages, and we need help from parent volunteers to pull it off. There isn’t a job you can’t do or an item you can’t bring so click on the Job Signup to help out. For our new-to-swim-team parents this is a great event to meet other parents and learn what’s going on. Don’t be a stranger!

Big Dolphin/Little Dolphin 2024: Tomorrow (6/9) is the final day to sign up to be a Big or Little Dolphin for the 2024 season. (At some point, we need to close the form for sign ups unless we can find a volunteer to continue the process.) More information can be found at Big Dolphin / Little Dolphin Program. If your swimmer is interested in participating, please complete the appropriate form(s) linked below. The new goal is to include everyone that is interested and get them a Big or Little Dolphin in place before the first meet on June 15.
