RECAP 6/17 Mosby Woods vs Greenbriar

Yesterday Hulk was on deck to help Greenbriar smash Mosby Woods in Greenbriar’s first NVSL meet of the season. Final score was 232 Greenbriar to 178 Mosby Woods. The weather was wonderful and our team spirit was high! The team’s meet photographer, Abby Mazanec, captured a ton of photos that you may view here.

Swimmers Placing at Saturday Meets: If your swimmer placed second or third in any individual event in a Saturday Meet, if they choose to swim that event in a Monday Meet it will be unofficial (aka Exhibition) for the rest of the season. If your swimmer placed first in any individual event in a Saturday Meet, all events (excluding IM) will be unofficial (aka Exhibition) in a Monday Meet for the rest of the season. When a swimmer is swimming in an Exhibition event, their times count but they do not place.

Morning Practices Start Tomorrow!: Morning practices start tomorrow. Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your swimmer’s practice start time. The side gate will be open.

Pancake Breakfast Tomorrow!: We flip for our swimmers! Summer swim morning practices are kicking off with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the team. All Greenbriar swimmers are welcome to grab a plate after practice Monday morning to start fueling up for our first Monday night meet.

Oakton Hosting Greenbriar Tomorrow!:  arrive by 5: Tomorrow evening we are being hosted by the Oakton Otters swim team at Oakton Swim and Racquet Club (11714 Flemish Mill Court, Oakton, VA 22124). We could still use some additional volunteers for Assistant Clerk of Course - Breaststroke/Butterfly/IM and Marshals.

Tuesday is Fun Day Practice: Swimmers are treated to a fun day of practice after Monday night meets. Early Bird and 13 & Up practice starts at 8:00am.

6/23 Pep Rally Friday: Thank you Melinda Perez for organizing a fabulous pep rally last Friday evening. It was the place to be in Greenbriar! Stay tuned for this week’s pep rally announcement and signup.

6/24 Fox Mill Woods vs Greenbriar: Please declare swimmer availability for the team’s Saturday meet against Fox Mill Woods. Swimmer selection for the meet will be emailed on Thursday.

Early Bird Practice Coordinator Wanted: The team is looking for a person who enjoys working from home an average of less than one hour a week to coordinate Early Bird Practice sign ups.

This role is established and requires minimal effort but having someone pull it off the Team Reps’ plates would be helpful. You do not need to attend Early Bird Practice or have a swimmer planning to attend Early Bird Practice.

For the next four weeks, this person will

• Check the Early Bird Google Form for new requests each day;
• Input requests received into a shared Google Sheet so Coaches know who to expect for Early Bird practice each day;
• Communicate to families through SwimTopia (templates provided) when requests are approved or have been waitlisted.
